Why us

To avoid the critical pitfalls when selecting a good diamond, we share the essential elements beyond the 4c’s. We reveal the exact steps by selecting a diamond that offers the best value and brilliance for any budget. Most online companies and physical stores never want you to know too much. A diamond’s cut is an integral factor in determining its brilliance and fire. Even a flawless diamond will appear dull and muted if the cut is poor. While high grade colors, clarity, and carat weight also contribute to a diamond’s appeal, it’s the cut that determines its overall proportions and its ability to reflect light. A touch of reality helps ease the budget and lets you enjoy your investment with confidence.

BEYOND THE 4C’s

HEART AND ARROW: In a round diamond, the lustre is clearly defined by the set of eight hearts and eight arrows which is a sign of excellent optical symmetry, an important component of cut, as such, its appearance is a sign of superior cut. This was initially noticed by accident by Kinsaku Yamashita and eventually trade marked in 1988.

ASET: Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool – Is an ingeniously simple device that quickly provides a wealth of information about how a diamond is handling light. Because diamond beauty derives primarily from it’s brilliance and fire, understanding details about cut quality and light performance is key to a choosing a great diamond.

DIAMOND FLUORESCENCE: When viewed under a black light, fluorescence in diamonds will glow with varying intensities and varying colors. This can affect the value and appearance of your diamond. Diamonds that have higher grade of D through H can be significantly lower in value if they exhibit strong fluorescence, since this will detract from the appearance of the stone. Diamond with lower grades J and below are often more attractive if they have a strong blue fluorescence.

DIAMOND TREATMENTS: Fracture Filling – The most common clarity enhancement today is fracture filling. Fracture filling is not considered permanent, so GIA labs do not grade fracture-filled diamonds. In this process, vented inclusions and fractures are injected with a molten glass substance into a diamonds surface-reaching feathers or laser drill-holes to disguise them. Laser Drilling – A treatment that involves using a concentrated beam of laser light to reach a diamonds dark inclusions to hide or eliminate them. Laser drilled diamonds will be confirmed on a GIA report for you to know.

ETHICALLY SOURCED DIAMONDS

In 2002, a coalition of governments, non-governmental organisations, and the diamond industry established the Kimberley Process, to control the export and import of rough diamonds to eliminate the trade in conflict diamonds. At Vivaz, we guarantee all diamonds to be conflict free, and sourced from strictly controlled locations.

SECURITY

All GIA reports contain security features such as a hologram, security screen and microprint lines that prevent them from being forged or duplicated. This may be the most important C because it ensures the other C’s are in fact what they are said to be. We protect your assets by cross checking your diamond and certificate. Report number & inclusions must be the same. We verify your grading report number directly with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to confirm the authenticity of your certificate. Diamond appraisals before purchasing is a must, it will give you the peace and assurance of a lifetime.
